What's ULI
The Union for the International Language (ULI) was founded on July
31, 1910 with for mission of developing and of propagating the
international auxiliary language Ido.
Ido is a reform of Esperanto
made by the Delegation
for the adoption of an International Auxiliary Language following
the refusal from Esperantists to accept the improvements and simplifications
of Esperanto suggested in January
1908 after having met in Paris
in October 1907 with the support of more than 1200 members of Academic
societies, Faculties, Universities and more than 300 international
associations, to select the best project of international auxiliary
language.
The main Ido uses the Latin alphabet without accent marks rejecting
the accentuated letters ĉ ĝ ĥ ĵ ŝ ŭ specific
to Esperanto. Unlike in Esperanto adjectives in Ido do not
agree in the plural and in the accusative case, and the use
of the ending "n" for the accusative case is not used
systematically as it is in Esperanto but only when the subject-verb-object
word order is not followed. New affixes like "des-, - iv,
- oz, - al" were also
introduced. In short, the international auxiliary language Ido,
by eliminating the useless complications from Esperanto brings
a solution without equal to
the global linguistic problem.
Today the ULI whose seat is located in Amsterdam (Holland) is an
international association functioning with the assistance of volunteers
who work to develop and propagate Ido mainly in the following
ways :
- Maintaining the universality of Ido by the Linguistic Committee
- Publishing the quarterly review "Progreso"
- Organizing
international Meetings for Ido enthusiasts
- Supporting and assisting national
associations of Ido
- Providing information in the media (Internet, press,
radio...)
- Searching for patrons
- ...
Membership with the ULI costs 5€/year and includes a subscription
to the version pdf of PROGRESO review.
PROGRESO is published 3 times/year and the subscription with
